OUR STORY

Gem City Kitties was started to partner with Dayton's Cat Café, Gem City Catfé. Together, both organizations work to improve the lives of cats in Dayton. We collaborate with local rescues and shelters to help find homes for cats in need.

CATS NEED OUR HELP

In the United States:
- 3.4 million cats enter animal shelters each year
- 1.4 million cats are euthanized
- 70 million cats are strays or ferals

We envision Dayton as a place in which all of our feline friends are valued, protected, and treated with empathy, and compassion.

OUR ADOPTION PARTNERS

We transfer cats from local shelters and rescues to help them meet their new families at Gem City Catfé.
Our partners include:

Humane Association of Warren County
Boone County Animal Shelter
•
Tri-State Spay and Neuter

All of our adoptable cats are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped.

WHAT WE DO

We seek to end the death of healthy animals due to overpopulation through adoption and education. Our commitment to community outreach and education-based programs highlights these important issues:

•Reducing re-homing of pets for behavioral concerns through proper training techniques
 •Spaying and neutering owned pets
•Coexisting responsibly with community cats
•Adopting rather than purchasing pets
•Explaining why declawing is inhumane and often creates health and behavioral complications, and providing nonsurgical, humane alternatives
•Showcasing enrichment for indoor cats and recommending owned cats to live indoors
• Providing affordable veterinary care through Gem City Vet to cats and dogs in low-income families to keep them healthy and in homes
